My Lake House: "Kaas" woh lamhe thaam jaate...

Quite a few souls dream of a lake house, well i lived this dream for a night and a day.
And what a dream come true it was! Me and my buddy had setup a tent right at the shore of "Kaas Lake",Near Satara. We spend a night strolling by the lake side under the soft silvery glow of of crescent moon. Heard the ripples of lake water basking in the soft touch of moonlight. Gazed stars and planets alike, i the big guys out there was venus , uranus and saturn. The morning was spend watching the sun making it ascent on top of clear blue lake. Then there was a time for a bath on the pristine and cold water of the lovely lake with our body shivering alongside the melodious tunes of the music being played on our portable music player. And not to forget the mention of rosy fragrance of the body wash which made it an affair to remember.

Want rest >> Play socceer

Soccer is a great game it keeps everybody involved on and off the field. And if u happen to get injured playing it then the fun(pun intended) extends much longer then expected.

It was my seasons opener, playing six a side with the UnivUnited group on the Police grounds. Well i happen to just play 1-2 practise match per season thats a different story :-)

On a sunny sunday morning the setting was perfect for a some action on the field. There was some dew on the grass. The warm session was little clumsy. I made a couple of rounds of the smaller ground demarcated for this smaller team. And without much ado the match started. it took some time to get my feet and breath in sync.i started passing the ball well around to my teamies. The midfield position was bit taxing, so after a while i went into defense. There was no half-time.We were playing an hour game so a half time idea did not sound chivalrious for the bonds with the boots.

My team was lagging by a goal and we were into last 5 minutes. My energy levels had fallen to the lowest by now. Sudden i saw an oppourtunity to get deep into the opponents half. I took a sprint towards the flying ball, and jumped to tap it into ground so i could the pass of the one of our forwards. That jump could stop by ball, but when i landed on the ground my right foot tripped , partly aided by the dew on the grass, and i twisted my right knee. There i was lying on the ground reeling in pain. Other buddies rushed to the sport helped me with some spray and bending excercise. The match was then called off.

After examination by an orthopedic i was diagnosed with ligament damage.Advised rest for 4-5 weeks with lot of excercises to do to get me back on my feet again.

So the moral of the story is WANT REST, PLAY SOCCER N BEND IT LIKE TARUN

Meeting of 4 Muskeeters: A tale of Squash,Tea and Non-sense

The Scene
It was one of those maniac monsoon rainy day in Pune,a regular feature of the past week. Indra Dev(The rain god in Hindu mythology) looked all set to deliver his full quota of the entire season of rain on this single day.Looks like he was striving hard to make a delivery well before schedule to get some performance bonus from the heavenly management team:-)

The Men
4 musketeers
Me - Ur Mr.Nice Guy
Ranjeet - Old miscreant
Ravi - Sporty guy with Irish connections
Sagar - Game for everything. Sole witness to the historic event of mine and Ranjeet's cycle purchase.

Undeterred by rains we meet at the Abs gym on the posh International Convention Center.A rare combination of people with Ranjeet, Sports and Masti being a common thread.

The Mission
Join the squash club of this rather lavish gym. Ravi an old timer in this game had introduced Mr Ranjeet to try his hand at this some time earlier. Two had joined this club sometime back. Mr Ranjeet sensing that he had a weak case of winning against Ravi, thought of a clever scheme to keep his self-esteem intact. He has tried to rope Me and Sagar to play with him, so that Ravi is free to play advanced level with coach. This is "One arrow hits multiple target" ploy from Mr.Ranjeet's hat. Rather surprisingly the squash court is undergoing a complete overhaul.A rather extravagant exercise, given court was in quite a decent shape and only a small repair could have taken care of the peel of plaster which had come off from one of the wall. Looks like activities like these are keeping the Indian economy growing at 8% rate consistently.

The Outcome
The squash in-charge was missing so we decided to go the nearby cafe and kill time over a cuppa of Chai. I opted for a rather exotic Mint Black Tea, ignoring comments from Ranjeet(an expert in making cheap comments:-() , whereas others settled down for a more common edition of this Desi beverage.I logged out from the group earlier as i had to meet an businessmen for some important discussions. As fate had it,I spent my next couple of hours listening to marketing seminar of Amway, a direct marketing company. This at the insistence of the Mr. Businessmen who i must say literally took me for a ride.

Later i learned that Sagar got sold to Mr Ranjeet wily mechanisms and trio treated on music for 3 hours at Kiva lounge before retreating back to their base camps.

As for me i am waiting to be the next prey in the squash scam...

It takes two to tango

Another bright sunny Monday at Pleasanton. But there was something special , it was not a nornmal sad first working day of the week. It was a holiday thanks to the good work done by Martin Luther King Jr.

So i decided to celeberate this great day for the spirit of america by treating myself to something i have come to love and america loves dearly "StarBucks Coffe" . I got out of my suite and started a joyful walk towards the "StarBucks Coffe" outlet. Bright but mild sunshine was a perfect cover , with each step the joy was increasing.Relaxed looking people drove past in their cars. America never stops driving, there is always a plentiful gas guzzlers on the road holiday or workday, america keeps rolling and rolling

Walk ended soon as i reached my destination. As i entered the through the gates , the aroma of coffe filled my sense with refreshing moments. There is something about this place always attracts me.

Now the big question is what should i order. The choices are plenty Espressos, Fraps, Capuccinos and on and on...I have resolved to try each and every flavor ... So today there was this special item "Cinnamon Dolce Latte" quite exotic as the name goes by. Excited , the name i asked for. The lady at the counter was as pleasing as the place:-)

Dear, Starbucks is not just about coffe, but also about the great music they play . There was this beautifull album playing which had good measure of guitar. Though i could not figure out the singer or the band but i enjoyed listening to say the least. I must admit my knowledge of western music is bit flimsy, though i enjoy mainstream pop , r&b and country.

Coffe and Music, to savor. I soaked myself in an aroma and the tunes. The dyanmics between the two was perfect.

It takes two to Tango!

All dressed up and nowhere to go

It's a flight i can't forget.

After being being ushered into the lufthasnsa boeing 757 for San francisco at Frankfurt, the wait for take-off seemed as long as the trans-atlantic journey which lay ahead.

Initially with active and athletic german air-hostess air-walking up and down the aisle there was some action to watch out for ,but with no sign of the big monster moving even after half-hour it become a bit irritating.

Then the speaker came to life and the suave captain broke the monotny.Trying this best to put his most polite and aplogetic voice he anounced

"This is one of those days when one of our engines failed to fire up....."

Thank god we discovered this on ground.

After an hour later we were airbone ....

Some memorable dialogue from the latest Will Smith starer inspirational movie "The pursuit of happyness"

"If u have a dream you got to protect IT!"

"Don't let anybody tell u, that u can't do it, it's just that they can't do it"

Will Smith is one great actor and delivers a performance of his life

This movie set in San Francisco and Bay area struck deep chord with me as i hav wandered a lot in this geography recently and could really see the setting raw and fresh...

By design i saw the movie at Metroen ,San Francisco ... this hep multiplex is just across the block to Moscone center where another great personality Steve Jobs ,CEO of Apple just delivered another mesmerizing keynote address at Macworld Expo

My experiments with cooking

Necessity is the mother of all inventions!

Well said by some XYZ, I must twist it a bit and say

"Hunger is mother of all the _activity_",

Sick and bored of eating boxed airlines food N oven heated frozen food, i FINally overcome my lethargy and decided to take control of my gastronomic destiny and divied deep into cooking

So guessed what i cooked?

"Aloo Gobi Masala" the quintessential indian curry

And i ATE IT TOO!!!!

I must admit that this excercise was not one-man feat of courage and excellence...

I had over the phone advise delivered by my buddies Girish and Venkat abt the essential nitty-gritty of cooking the sabzi in-realtime

G & V cook really goood.... and they both are MARRIED ( i hope this is just a coincidence)
